500 Miles For Highlands

Darby Rand here:

“I’d walk 500 miles for Highlands.” That's how this whole conversation started. I was looking into training for the Camino de Santiago, a walk across Spain that has a route that is roughly 500 miles. I like to have meaning and purpose behind what I do, especially if I’m training for something. And through that desire, I created 500 miles for Highlands. The idea is that I’ll walk 500 miles for Highlands within a year. The goal: raise $7500 in honor of the 75th anniversary.

What is it? It’s a donor partnership and sponsorship project where you can help support Highlands. Here are the ways you can join us.

  • Pledge a dollar amount per mile

  • Pledge a specific dollar amount

  • Join me in walking, here at Highlands, or

  • Join me in walking, but walk where you live and track your miles

  • Get donors to sponsor you for the miles you walk

  • Get donors to sponsor me for the miles I walk

  • Share my blogs/vlogs with others

  • Create your own blogs/vlogs to share with others about Highlands or your walk

  • Follow the hashtags #highlands500 & #500milesforhighlands

  • In addition to any/all of the above, join me in praying for the success of this project and for the future ministry of Highlands.

So what are you waiting for? December 1st we’re kicking off the project with the first steps toward 500 miles. What can you do right now? Put together a list of people you think would be willing to support Highlands and support you. Start contacting them, and explaining the project then ask if they’ll sponsor you or me.

Be sure to have 500 miles in the memo of check and credit card donations so that your money counts toward our goal of $7500. You can donate online here: highlandscamp.org or you can mail a check to Highlands at P.O. Box 66 Allenspark CO, 80510.

100 WINTER MILES DOWN

Through blistering wind, fridgid snow storms, and icy roads, we have endured. And we've finally made it to the first milestone. 100 Miles are done! From 50 mile an hour winds we have continued down this journey. How far have you gone?

I was reading my Bible recently and came across the Great Commission verse again. Matthew 28:18-20 "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.'"

Isn't that exactly what we're doing here at Highlands? We are training disciples that will make disciples here at summer camp. That is why I walk for Highlands. I want to continue to support Highlands in bringing Christ to the next generation. Will you join me in this fundraising effort?
